Brazil has roared into the World Cup quarter-finals with a 2-0 victory over Mexico as Neymar shone with a goal and an assist that dumped the central Americans out at the last 16 stage for the seventh straight occasion.
The PSG forward slid home in the second half and then teed up Roberto Firmino late on as the five-times champions beat an otherwise stubborn Mexico, whose World Cup began with such promise with a victory over champions Germany, but ended in familiar fashion in the first knockout round.

My dream is to one day meet Neymar, shake his hand and immediately drop to the ground clutching my fingers in excruciating pain for like 10 minutes #BRAMEX

#BRAMEX to all thinking Neymar overreacted on the ankle thing: Neymar had surgery on that ankle and has been out last 2 months. Plus Layun was big mad and tryin to start shit.

Neymar’s play-acting reached bizarre new levels when, while sat on the sideline, Layun approached and the front of his boot appeared to touch Neymar’s lower leg. In truth, Neymar’s play-acting at this World Cup has been little short of scandalous. He was by turns brilliant and ridiculous here in Samara, by turns wonderful athlete and childish ego. The ridiculous overreaction from the forward drew criticism from fans and fellow players alike.

8 – Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa made eight saves today versus Brazil; the only player to have attempted more within 90 minutes at the 2018 World Cup is Ochoa himself, making nine saves vs Germany. Occupied.#BRAMEX #MEX #WorldCup pic.twitter.com/7F3oxKIkmc

The one thing that has impressed me the most in this world cup is Neymar's acting skills.

I just can't enjoy Neymar's game. He's an incredibly talented player. Everything he does with a ball is marvellous, but the way he constantly goes down, rolls around and acts as if he was just electrocuted is making it hard for me to enjoy watching him play. #WorldCup #BRAMEX pic.twitter.com/r0cf91wNaN
