Check out Best Reactions from Twitter on France’s Sensational 4-3 Victory over Argentina

France vs Argentina - Kylian Mbappé - FIFA 2018 - TwitterAct

Argentina is done at the 2018 World Cup, and France is moving on. The Europeans earned their first ever victory over the South Americans at a World Cup, beating Lionel Messi and company 4-3 after trailing 2-1 early in the second half. Against a weak Argentina defense, France used its speed and fine finishing for their best attacking display at the cup, knocking out the two-time champs with ease.

The France striker conjured up comparisons with one of England’s greatest ever moments with a scintillating, 60-yard bust to win the penalty opener in a 4-3 World Cup last-16 triumph over the same South Americans today. Mbappe made more history after that, netting twice to become the first teenager since Pele in the 1958 final to hit a brace in sport’s greatest tournament.

Many a great player has never won the World Cup, and it seems ever more likely that Lionel Messi will end up on that list. He is 31 now, still a master of the close-quarters dribble and the quick strike. But his supporting cast in Argentina looks weaker by the World Cup, and on a near-cloudless Saturday, Messi and his teammates were overrun and outmaneuvered by a French team full of skill, speed, youth and, for the first time in this tournament, goals.
